Action toward change
What is Drasis?
Drasis (el. Δρᾶσις) is Greek for action. No matter what the reason is, when one considers engaging in therapy they act toward getting their life in their own hands, aiming to some kind of change. Therapy is a brave, challenging and rewarding drasis toward that change.
One of Dramatherapy's basic principles is that action is a powerful means towards empowerment and transformation. And as creative human beings by nature, creative-expressive methods that actively engage us as a whole, body and mind, may offer an insight that words lack or when they are simply not enough.
My name is Danai and I am an HCPC registered Dramatherapist and graduate psychologist. As a therapist I have worked in the NHS, the prison system, schools and residential settings with individuals with complex trauma, relationship and personality related difficulties, ASD and learning difficulties. No matter what the setting or the client group, I am grateful that I have been experiencing the impact of respect, care, compassion, non-judgmental attitudes, humour and playfulness in individuals' journey toward their growth and change.
Drasis is my action toward completing my wish to offer support to people in their journey to change.
